Minelli Lorandi Duo

Minelli Lorandi Duo (Elisa Minelli - vocals, piano; Sergio Lorandi - guitar) was born in February 2023 with the purpose of sharing an all-round passion for music by interpreting jazz, bossa nova, pop, folk (French, Italian, Latin and American music), classical and film music

The duo tailors the playlist according to the live contexts and it also performs original music spanning the several genres above-mentioned.

In March 2023, in order to inaugurate the project the duo decides to launch the original jazz single 'Walking Alone on Snow' on all music streaming platforms. Sergio composed and arranged the music and played the guitar, Elisa wrote the lyrics, sang and played the keyboard. The track, recorded and mixed by Emilio Rossi at the Phoenix Studio in Castel Mella (Brescia, Italy), boasts the collaboration of Sergio Martinelli on double bass and Simone Giustini on drums. In the first ten days the music video reached 5,900 YouTube views, while the song exceeded 3,500 Spotify streams in the United States of America.

In June 2023 Elisa and Sergio launch their new instrumental composition on all music streaming platforms: "Hope", which was conceived on piano in the contemporary neoclassical music genre and it was later arranged by the duo also for classical guitar, transverse flute and strings. The third part of the composition reminds the styles of the new age and progressive rock genres: it features the entry of Tibetan bell and screeching violin preceding the electric guitar solo over an accompaniment of piano, Hammond organ, bass guitar and drums.

The composition from a technical point of view is in a minor key, but in the last chord of the fourth and final section all the restlessness calms down, resolving on a major chord: the piece is meant to evoke hope for a better world. With this composition they say no to war, poverty and pollution because they care about our planet and the preservation of all living beings.

Caterina Lazzaroni is involved in the performance as a flautist. This track was also recorded and mixed by Emilio Rossi at the Phoenix Studio in Castel Mella (Brescia, Italy).

The duo performs both jazz and bossa nova instrumental standards (Dave Brubeck, Pat Metheny and Antônio Carlos Jobim) and vocal pieces made popular by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Etta James, Sarah Vaughan, Elis Regina and Gilberto Gil.

The classical and film music repertoire, particularly suitable during wedding ceremonies, includes compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Pachelbel, Ennio Morricone, Ludovico Einaudi and many others.

The duo performs Latin South American folk music in Spanish such as Bésame mucho and Gracias a la vida in addition to Brazilian bossa nova.

The repertoire embraces French, Italian, North American and English pop and folk music by Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, Luigi Tenco, Fabrizio De André, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Crosby-Stills-Nash, John Lennon, The Beatles, Mark Knopfler and Sting.

Sergio Lorandi

Sergio Lorandi is an Italian guitarist, composer, arranger and music teacher based in Brescia. He performs as a guitar session man in Italy and abroad (Holland, Germany).

He took up the guitar at the age of six following in his brothers's footsteps. His main musical education is based on the classical guitar technique with a repertoire of international classical and contemporary compositions (Bach, Albeniz, Tarrega, Moreno Torroba, Villa Lobos, Segovia, Castelnuovo Tedesco and Rodrigo).

Sergio has experience in the composition for solo guitar and orchestral arrangement in several music genres: CLASSICAL, PROGRESSIVE ROCK, JAZZ, BOSSA NOVA and LATIN, FOLK, TRADITIONAL IRISH, POP, NEW AGE and AMBIENT music for films, documentaries, commercials, radio and TV theme songs (Mediaset and Rai).

Sergio has collaborated with important producers including Alberto Salerno, Mara Majonchi, Sergio Dall’Ora, Fabrizio Baldoni (Green Movie), Pietro Giannetta, Mino Bianchi.

From 1977 to 1980 he played in the “Alternative Studio Group” with his brothers Claudio (lead gtr) and Antonio (bass gtr) and with Sergio Forloni (drums). The band composed some instrumental jazz-rock songs.

From 1981 to 1996 with the cooperation of Silvano Silva (drums) the band changed the name into “Phoenix".

In 2007 Phoenix was hit by a serious mourning: Claudio, the band's founder, passed away prematurely. The following year Antonio, Silvano, and Sergio decided to record a memorial CD and changed the name of the band into "Phoenix Again" as a rebirth of the group that was able to react to a great loss and was determined to bring to light decades of music that had never been published.

With “Phoenix Again” Sergio has performed at the most well-known Italian venues for progressive rock and the band has been given pages of interviews and reviews by major magazines including “Prog Italia”.
